It contains the Mexican monuments that Pedro Gualdi lithographed in 1841, here presented in a facsimile edition. Ortiz Macedo's essay technically introduces us to lithography as a visual vehicle, which, against all odds, transcended the arrival of photography, probably due to its romantic air, so captivating for different audiences. Thus, he explains that to achieve a lithograph, three characters were required: the draftsman, then the "tracist" of figures or characters, and finally, the lithographer, who will be the one who will transfer that original to the lithographic stone in a composition "full of vibrations and nuances. , who, without altering the appearance (of the original), specifies such a bell tower, places a massif of trees, populates with lights, brightness, intonations, shadows and gradations through which the finished lithographic work wastes effects ”. This is how he explains the evolution of lithographic technique, placing us in a historical time and in an artistic atmosphere in order to fully enjoy those beautiful creations made by Pedro Gualdi, “painter of perspectives”.
