The work of Guillermo Hudson (1841 - 1922), a naturalist born in Quilmes, province of Buenos Aires, managed to achieve enormous prestige. However, the author had to suffer long hardships until finally, in 1892, the title that we now offer was published, the first, which was finally received with high public recognition. On April 1, 1874, he had definitively moved away from his homeland and in England, he married the owner of the boarding house where he lived. The woman knew how to rescue him from the economic chaos and just after the edition of “El naturalista en el Plata”, Hudson managed to live in conditions worthy of his essays.

In the title cataloged here, he introduces us to the flora and fauna of the Plata, being an outstanding scholar of local ornithology.
