Sainte-Chapelle. Paris, 1997.

Post-impressionist painting; the cold palette and the use of the spatula immerse us in the cold, melancholic and rainy climate of this scene painted in Paris. In the foreground three trees without foliage and behind, the profile of the Holy Chapel of Paris -also known as the royal chapel of the Île de la Cité- and one of the towers of the Conciergerie. The Conciergerie or Palais de la Cité is a historic building in Paris that occupies the Clock Quay, residence of the kings of France from the 10th to the 14th centuries. Both buildings are located on the Ile de la Cité.

Francisco Travieso is a self-taught painter born in 1942 in the province of Buenos Aires. Initiated very early in art, he participated in 1955 in the National Student Hall. In 1973, he toured Spain and Italy and the following year France, Switzerland, Holland, England and Portugal, a continent that he will continue to visit ever since, a source of learning and inspiration, as we see in today's painting. In our city he installed his workshop in 1976 together with the engraver Roberto Paez. He exhibited in 1980 at the Galería del Buen Ayre, and in 1981 at the Galería Van Riel. In 1982 he exhibited at the Museo del Jade, Costa Rica and at the Ibero-American Institute of Culture ICI, Madrid. In 1983 the National State published a postage stamp reproducing his work "The Illuminated Congress". Since 1986 he exhibits at the Palatina Gallery. In 1994 the book Travieso was published, with a foreword by Rafael Squirru and a text by Rubén Vela. In 2016 he was incorporated as a member of the Academia del Plata. On the occasion of this incorporation he gave the lecture "Reflections on art, an ineffable theme". S.H.O-X
