STIRRUPS COLLECTION
Pair of stirrups
Carved from a piece of wood, each one presents a harmonious decoration, in which recurring motifs appear in these models, such as the flowers with radial petals, the guards, and the buttons with scalloped edges. The wooden box appears wrapped by an iron band that ends at the eye. Measures. Height: 16.3 cm / 6.41 in. Opening: 9 cm / 3.54 in.
In the Andean region of South American riding, box stirrups were used with well-defined regional forms; these without a doubt, in Argentina. In all cases, the rider had to preserve his feet from the fearsome edges of the rocks, which is why he adapted the models of the Hispanolusitanian horse race that crossed the seas to reach America. Those made of wood, iron and also, brass. In our continent, the wooden bowl is also a refuge for the icy winds and snow falls typical of the Andean region.
