Misty and melancholic morning in Mocoretá, province of Corrientes, with the protagonism of a path, here surrounded by eucalyptus trees that disappear into the misty distance. In this painting, the two characteristics that we distinguish in the previous landscape are accentuated: the use of the spatula to replace the brush, and the predominance of blue tones. (See lot 3) The impressionist optical principle is more noticeable here: spots of different colors that, when seen from afar, blend, perceiving great realism. As José León Pagano wrote, "Carlos Heim's pictorial conquests, the best, belong to the chromatic order”. Together with the previous landscape they make up a magnificent diptych: two Argentine landscapes, two tree-lined paths balanced between the diaphanous and the taciturn, exemplary of the birth of modern painting in Argentina.

Carlos Heim (Buenos Aires, 1899 - 1963) studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts. He traveled to Europe, stayed there for four years and toured artistic centers in France and Germany. In 1940 he published a method for learning drawing entitled New Drawing Method. He practiced teaching. He attended the National Hall since 1927 and the salons of La Plata, Mar del Plata, Santa Fe, Rosario and Córdoba. He exhibited individually at the Müller, Van Riel and Witcomb galleries. Among other recognitions, he obtained the Stimulus Award at the National Hall in 1945.
