Complete work, in three volumes, Octavo (21.8 x 14.6 cm / 8.58 x 5.74 in), bound at the time with a leather spine, ribs, rosettes and golden titles. Volume I: 187 pp., Includes Cover, IV; 153 pp., 1 sheet of Index. Volume II: 356 pp., Includes Cover, 1sheet of Index. Volume III: 413 pp., Plus 1 sheet of Index. Good copy, with slightly toasted sheets.


The first volume begins with the chronicle of Rui Díaz de Guzmán, written in the year 1612: History of the discovery, population and conquest of the Provinces of the Río de la Plata and indicates it on the cover, “it is enriched with dissertations and an index historical and geographical for the easier intelligence of the text”. And it is followed by the History of Paraguay, Río de la Plata and Tucumán, written by Father Guevara.


Volume II includes the Historical Memory on the province of Misiones of Guaraníes indians, whose author was Gonzalo de Doblas, who sent it to Félix de Azara in 1785. It continues with the “Description of the nature of the lands that comprise the Andes, owned by the Peguenches; and the other spaces up to the Chadileubu river”, recognized by Mr. Luis de la Cruz, provincial mayor of the illustrious Cabildo de la Concepción de Chile. And ends an extensive account of the English invasions and the glorious defense of Buenos Aires.


Volume III begins with “La Argentina, or the conquest of the Río de la Plata”, the historical poem written by Archdeacon Martín del Barco Centenera. And it ends with the “Tables of latitudes and longitudes of the main points of the Río de la Plata, arranged at the meridian that passes through the westernmost part of the island of Ferro. By Don Alejandro Malaspina, on his trip around the world”.
