Bonnin Album - Mar del Plata - Season 1913. Mateo Bonnin editor, Mar del Plata. Graphic Workshops of Feliu and Susanna. Barcelona.

Quarto, oblong (29.7 x 20.3 cm / 11.69 x 8 in), unpaginated, highly illustrated with printed photographs. Publisher's binding, without its back cover. Good copy.

We can consider that Mateo Bonnin was the most important photographer of "La Feliz" during the first decades of the 20th century, and this merit is mainly due to the prolific edition of photographic books on this seaside resort. We offer here its volume number 2 edited with the support of the Rambla Mar del Plata Commission, Fray Mocho magazine, and other sponsors. In its pages we appreciate an enormous amount of social, sports, architectural photographs and mainly of the summer activities of Argentine Biarritz with the social elite of Buenos Aires and some provinces of the interior. All of them identified with the names and surnames of those portrayed.

Mateo Bonnin (1872 - 1935), born in the Balearic Islands, migrated and worked respectively in Peru, Chile and Argentina; where he finally settled in Mar del Plata since 1904. Here he gained fame through his snapshots of walkers marching down the Rambla Bristol and scenes of vacationers on the beach. He also ventured into the early national cinema with several films dedicated to this tourist destination.

The researcher Mercedes Inés Monteverde -the author's great-niece- has written several very interesting books with the life and work of this pioneer of photography from Mar del Plata. We highlight: “Photographers of the Ramblas of Mar del Plata. Bonnin and Suárez (1900-1945)”, and “Mateo Bonnin. Pioneer in Argentine cinematography. Mar del Plata (1904-1935)”. SEH-IX
